The Program and Poster Committees of the CHLA/ABSC Conference 2005 invite you to submit contributed papers or posters for the annual meeting in Toronto, Ontario, May 30-June 3, 2005. Papers may describe innovative programs/practices or new research findings and should relate to the overall conference theme - "The World Around the Corner" Call for Contributed PapersLike the advent of the World Wide Web, Google has profoundly changed the way libraries and their patrons approach information. For many in health care, Google and PubMed are not only their tools of choice, but often their only tools. The rise of these ubiquitous, sometimes powerful, and exceedingly simple services has touched every area of library operations from reference source selection, instruction, and interface development. How have and should libraries respond to the current challenges and opportunities that PubMed and Google afford? And how do we plan to out survive and outshine both? Papers can focus on the following tracks:
Accepted contributed papers will each be allotted approximately 20 minutes for presentation, plus 10 minutes for questions, during the course of the conference. To be considered, please submit the following information by December 15, 2004.
Please note: Structured abstracts should follow JCHLA/JABSC Instruction to Authors Send your submission to either of the Program Co-Chairs: Tamsin Adams-Webber (thomasin.adams-webber@sickkids.ca) or Rea Devakos (rea.devakos@utoronto.ca) Call for PostersPoster sessions comprise visual presentations of information about research or other projects. They offer conference delegates a less formal alternative to contributed papers and plenary sessions, as well as an opportunity to interact directly with those responsible for the presentations. Posters are invited along the same themes as those of the contributed papers, although submissions along other themes also are welcome. Poster presenters will be allotted a display board (4 x 8) and table space. A limited number of electrical connections will be available for electronic poster presentations. If you are planning an electronic poster presentation, you must bring your own laptop computer as well as a standalone version of your presentation. Internet connections will not be available for posters due to the high cost of connections in the hotel. You will be required to staff your print or electronic poster during a portion of the conference (June 1); posters will be open to viewing by conference delegates for two days of the conference (June 1-2). To submit a poster for consideration, please send an email by December 15, 2004 with the following information:
Please note: Structured abstracts should follow JCHLA/JABSC Instruction to Authors. Send your submission to Poster Chair Doreen Millman-Wilson (millman-wilson.doreen@torontorehab.on.ca). Conference registration fees will not be waived for presenters of contributed papers or posters.
