Make it Green!

The organizers of CHLA/ABSC 2011 are committed to hosting a sustainable meeting. Please make your meeting as Green as possible.

We've compiled some eco-tips for delegates to make your conference experience environmental.  We encourage you to challenge yourself in incorporating as many as you can. Check this page for updates and tips as we countdown to the conference in May.

What is a Green Meeting?

A Green Meeting "incorporates environmental considerations throughout all states of the meeting in order to minimize the negative impact on the environment."

Tips

#1 Use your travel mug. As part of your participants’ package, you will receive a travel mug courtesy of McGraw-Hill.

#2 Bring your own tote bag. NB We have elected not to provide tote bags at the conference.

#3 Think before you print. Consider downloading the PDF. If you do print, print double-sided. Remember, this is the only planet with chocolate... treat it well!

#4 If possible, take a non-stop flight to your travel destination to avoid repeated take-offs and landings.

#5 Recycle. This includes the paper material you get at the conferences, empty cans and bottles. There will be recycling stations at the Hyatt.

#6 Choose an electronic ticket. If you have a mobile device (e.g. iPAD), airline staff can scan your ticket from the screen.

#7 Bring your own toiletries in reusable containers.

#8 Turn off lights, A/C, and electronics (television, computers) when you leave your room.

#9 Take public transportation to events. If you can't, share a cab. If you can, walk. All social events will be in walking distance of the Hyatt. The Opening Reception will be at the Glenbow Museum, a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The Banquet will be held in the hotel as well.

#10 If you rent a car, opt for a hybrid.

#11 Stop your newspaper delivery service while you are away at the conference.
