Meet Danielle: stepping out of the safety net

Fun facts:
Starting a new job, in a new city without the safety net of friends and family, means I have to step outside of my comfort zone to develop a new social network. It also means that I have the opportunity to take up some new (and previously feared) activities -- this year, it's golf and swimming lessons. Unlike Jennifer, the master swimmer, I never really learned how to enjoy the water. I feel I'm old enough to not care about what others think anymore, and if I'm going to make a fool of myself, I may as well do it with gusto on and off the course!

Why should I/you attend CHLA-ABSC 2012?
As both a newly minted librarian, fresh from an MLIS program, and now a solo librarian, attending CHLA-ABSC  will help me develop a better understanding of the health librarianship field as a whole, as well allow for many learning and professional development opportunities in one location, at one time. This an opportunity to develop some momentum that will hopefully continue until next year's conference.
