CHLA and Social Media

So, for those members currently active on Twitter, and there may have been a few new converts since the Winnipeg conference, there's been an interesting conversation going on, post-conference, about the role of social media and the association.  You can get a sense of that conversation here.

Thing is, and I hope Dean, Karen, Dan, Jeff et al. will agree, Twitter sucks for carrying on a conversation.

So, being the guy that keeps telling everyone else to use this site more interactively, I'm putting this out there and hoping a conversation might ensue.  This is a bit of an experiment.  Will it work?  What are the barriers?  What can the association do to better enable the conversation to happen?

It's been proposed that we establish a Social Media Interest Group.  I think the idea has legs.  What next?  We probably all have access to Skype.  I have access to the Adobe Connect platform through the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation.  We have the tools.  Let's connect.

Now discuss.

This is a great idea... I think that one of the things that professional associations have to offer (and often don't offer enough) is the actual 'association'. If we can get everyone talking more with each other we'll get more things done, create more, and have fun doing it!
