See article in National Post about the new code of conduct for librarians at Library & Archives Canada.  Our government appears to be determined to abdicate its responsibility for protecting our cultural heritage.  Hardly a coincidence that a code of conduct of this nature is being instituted by LAC

Call for Members to Join the CE Special Committee

The CHLA/ABSC Board of Directors is pleased to announce the creation of a CE Special Committee.

The responsibilities and deliverables of the Committee are identified in the attached Terms of Reference. We are seeking three individuals with a strong interest in continuing education to serve on the Committee for a period of two years.

Protest Cutbacks at Library and Archives Canada and Federal Libraries

CHLA/ABSC has added its voice to protest the cutbacks at Library and Archives Canada (LAC), as well as the closures and downsizing of many federal libraries.  See our letter to the Hon. James Moore attached.  CAUT has launched a campaign to Save Libraries and Archives - go to their site and see how you can become involved.

Reminder - Deadline for Chapter Initiatives Fund Applications is September 23, 2011

The Chapter Initiatives Fund is intended to support and recognize special initiatives, activities, programs or projects undertaken by CHLA/ABSC Chapters, which further the mission of CHLA/ABSC. The Board of Directors reviews applications at each Board meeting.
