Brad Scott Call for JCHLA/JABSC Junior Editor (Sept 01-2016 to Aug 31-2017), Senior Editor (Sept 01-2017 to Aug 31-2018) and Editor-in-Chief (Sept 01-2018 to Aug 31-2019)
Do you have an interest in writing, editing and publishing? CHLA/ABSC is looking for an enthusiastic person who is interested in contributing to the field of health librarianship by serving as a Junior Editor (Sept 01-2016 to Aug 31-2017), Senior Editor (Sept 01-2017 to Aug 31-2018) and Editor-in-Chief (Sept 01- 2018 to Aug 31-2019) of the Journal of the Canadian Health Libraries Association (JCHLA/JABSC). JCHLA is published three times a year and has been open access since 2006. The journal has been hosted on OJS since 2014; familiarity with the system is an asset, but certainly not required. Term: Sept 01-2016 to Aug 31-2017.
The Junior Editor is responsible for coordinating book and product reviews, and may be assigned other article types as needed. Towards the end of their term, the Junior Editor may become involved in taking a research article through the peer review process. The Junior Editor will also assist with technical and administrative issues relating to JCHLA’s online platform. There is a comprehensive manual that outlines the position’s responsibilities and, of course, there will be mentoring from the Journal's Senior Editor and the Editor-in-Chief. The Junior Editor is expected to transition into Senior Editor at the end of their term.
Term: Sept 01-2017 to Aug 31-2018.
The Senior Editor is responsible for managing JCHLA’s columns, soliciting for new content and the preparation of CHLA’s annual conference abstracts. Furthermore, the Senior Editor assists the Editor-in-Chief in the: coordination of the JCHLA/JABSC Student Paper Prize, facilitation of the peer review process, the execution of the publication process and preparation of reports. The Senior Editor is responsible for the mentoring of the Junior Editor. The Senior Editor is expected to transition into Editor-in-Chief at the end of their term.
Please note that responsibilities can be fluid and accommodate the interests of the JCHLA Editorial Team.
Term: Sept 01-2018 to Aug 31-2019.
The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for overall coordination of the editorial process. This includes setting and managing the publication schedule, soliciting for new content, managing the peer review process, writing the Editor’s message for each issue, coordinating the JCHLA/JABSC Student Paper Prize, executing the publication process and corresponding with the publisher. This role also has a mentoring relationship with the Senior Editor.
