CHLA-ABSC: Call for JCHLA/JABSC Copyeditor  (January 2017 – August 2018)
 
 
JCHLA is seeking individuals interested in writing, editing, and publishing. If you would like to contribute to the field of health sciences librarianship by serving as Copyeditor for an initial term of one and a half years, (January 2017 – August 2018) please send a cover letter, detailing your experience, your interest in this position, and your language skills, along with a current CV to editor@chla-absc.ca no later than September 30, 2016.
 
The Copyeditor is responsible for:
  • Developing, maintaining and updating the JCHLA Publishing Manual. Currently, there is a basic publishing manual. The copyeditor would be responsible for developing this into a more comprehensive document.
  • Developing, maintaining and updating the JCHLA copyediting guidelines
  • Ensuring that proper grammar and spelling conventions are addressed
  • Verifying cited references
  • Identifying inconsistencies or changes in format/style
  • Other duties as required and agreed upon by the Editorial team
  • Working with manuscripts in the Open Journal Systems platform
 
Please Note: this is a new position and therefore duties may fluctuate.  Experience with Open Journal Systems is not essential but would be an asset.
 
 
CHLA-ABSC: Call for JCHLA/JABSC Production Editor (January 2017 – August 2017)
 
JCHLA is seeking individuals interested in writing, editing, and publishing. If you would like to contribute to the field of health sciences librarianship by serving as Production Editor for an initial term of 8 months, (January 2017 – August 2017) please send a cover letter, detailing your experience,  your interest in this position, and your language skills, along with a current CV to editor@chla-absc.ca no later than September 30, 2016.
 
The Production Editor is responsible for:
  • Ensuring all documents contain the correct issue/volume information 
  • Creating HTML and PDF versions of all documents
  • Making edits and replacing both layout (html) and galley (PDF) versions of documents
  • Setting the table of contents and pagination for each issue
  • Publishing the issue
  • Establishing workflows and documentation for the tasks of the production editor within the Open Journal Systems platform..
  • Other duties as required and agreed upon by the Editorial team
