Chapter Report 1999-2000

SAHLA started out in September with a breakfast meeting; muffins, fruit, and cheese were generously supplied by our host library at the Grace Women's Health Centre. We attempt to hold our meetings at different member libraries to raise awareness of the workings of all the health libraries with which our members are involved. An attempt was made to establish the focus or direction our association might wish to assume in the interests of professional development. Issues raised at the first meeting were revisited at a mid-November get-together for discussion followed by wine, cheese and fellowship. John Cole, who sits on the CHLA board, gave us an update on our parent organization's projects and agenda. Knowledge Management had surfaced as an important issue and, to that end, Claudette Cloutier from the University of Calgary presented a Saturday morning workshop on January 29. In the spring, Diane Lorentzetti of the Canadian Health Network (CHN) provided SAHLA with a demonstration of the CHN Website. Vivian McCallum, an alternative health affiliate from the Tzu Chi Institute also addressed the audience. Judy Kirton |
