SOHLIN met three times this year to hold both business meetings and participate in educational opportunities. Patti Sisler hosted the September 24, 1999 meeting at the Lambton Health Unit. Discussion at this meeting included new docline libraries in SOHLIN, the need for an archivist for WAHLA / SOHLIN, further resource sharing opportunities, upcoming CE needs of the membership and the distribution of the newly revised edition of our Union List produced by Janet Carr. Anne Farwell of Canebsco presented the membership with information on accessing e-journals. Dan Boutchie and Chris Gorman of Ebsco lead the EbscoMed users group meeting and discussed upcoming features to their web based products.

SOHLIN members were invited to attend the OHA Region #5 Annual General Meeting on Sept. 28, 1999. The Librarians had an Allied Group meeting led by Jill Campbell, OHLA Past-President and Linda Wilcox, OHLA incoming President.

Margaret Campbell hosted the Dec 2, 1999 meeting at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Stuart Silcox of Faxon Canada treated us to an Innovation Breakfast and he provided an online demonstration of electronic journals and information on the challenges ahead for librarians. A decision was made by the SOHLIN membership to use the SERHOLD data as the basis of our SOHLIN union list and that all SOHLIN members would be encouraged to submit their holdings for inclusion in SERHOLD.

On April 27, 2000 Tom Noble hosted our meeting at the Teen Health Centre. SOHLIN has initiated Shared Problem Solving to its regular programming to enhance our opportunities for professional growth. Our membership continues to be involved in other library groups, keeping us up-to-date on issues of interest. These associations include LAHLA, MDMLG (Metropolitan Detroit Medical Library Group), MLA, UNYOC and OHLA. Our thanks to Janet Carr for agreeing to stand in as Vice-Secretary / Treasurer for the next year while Sharon Munro is on sabbatical at Dalhousie.

SOHLIN is pleased to be jointly offering with LAHLA, Web-Based Docline training in London June 23, 2000. William Wueppelmann, DOCLINE coordinator from CISTI will be presenting this continuing education program.

The upcoming year will no doubt bring many changes for our members as DOCLINE moves to the web and more of our members become active DOCLINE centres. Toni and Debbie at HDGH are expecting to move into their new library this fall, while Joyce, Diane and Margaret are awaiting the completion of their new facilities. We look forward to an active year as we hope to continue to provide professional development opportunities to our members.

Toni Janik
SOHLIN President
