Mary Anne Howse has been a librarian for over 15 years with a strong background in consumer health. She is currently Manager of Library Services at Women’s College Hospital where she manages the Health Sciences Library and the Marion Powell Women’s Health Information Centre, the consumer health library. Prior to joining Women’s College Hospital, she was a librarian at the AIDS Committee of Toronto where she developed the 3rd and 4th editions of The Living Guide: Services for People in the Toronto Area Living with HIV or AIDS. Mary Anne also worked for several years as a cataloguer for The Roeher Institute, an advocacy organization for people with intellectual disabilities.

Marilyn Schafer has been a medical librarian since 1974. After several years in Ottawa at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) as Public Services Librarian and at CISTI as the Head of the Health Sciences Resource Centre, she returned to her home town of Toronto to be the Director of the Library at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC). Recently she retired from the Toronto Public Library after five years at the Consumer Health Information Service (CHIS). Currently, she is working one day a week in the Marion Powell Women’s Health Information Centre at Women’s College Hospital and remains a member of CHIPIG and THLA. Throughout her career, Marilyn has been active in professional associations and looks forward to participation on the CHIPIG Executive.

Erica Lee has held the position of Librarian at the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) since 2003. Her contributions to the ACT Library include the publication of the second edition of the library's subject headings, the HIV/AIDS Thesaurus. Erica completed her Master of Information Studies at the University of Toronto.

Mary Robinson is currently a free-lance information and content information specialist in Medical and Consumer Health Librarianship. After graduating with an M.L.S. from the Faculty of Library and Information Science at University of Toronto (subsequently the Faculty of Information Science, currently the Faculty of Information), being lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time, she garnered a broad medical librarianship experience at: Providence House (now Providence Healthcare); Sunnybrook Hospital (previously Sunnybrook and Women’s College, but, once again Sunnybrook Hospital); The Toronto General Hospital, The Toronto Western Hospital (now branches of UHN, although the member institutions are still colloquially referred to as such); The Addiction Research Foundation (now CAMH). Subsequently Mary spent six years as consumer health reference librarian at CHIS (Consumer Health Information Service) out of the Toronto Public Library system. – for which re-branding has, thankfully, not thought to be necessary.

Marg Muir
Trillium Health Centre

Marg Muir has over 35 years’ experience in the health care sector coupled with an academic background in nursing, health promotion and library science. She has a strong foundation of work-related experience in proposal writing, community development, volunteer management and consumer health in government, hospital and in communities across Canada including Canada’s North . Presently, she is working at Trillium Health Centre in the areas of consumer health and health promotion and at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in consumer health information.

Taryn is a librarian with the Health Information Network Calgary, at the Alberta Children's Hospital. She completed her MLIS at the University of Western Ontario. In addition to her participation with CHIPIG, she has been on the Executive of the Southern Alberta Health Libraries Association and the Foothills Library Association.
