Route by Car/Taxi

Getting to and From the Conference Hotel

  • To / From the Airport:
  • Edmonton Skyshuttle provides transportation to and from the Edmonton International Airport.  Cost:  $11 one way; $18 return.
  • An economical way to get to the Chateau Lacombe from the airport is to take Edmonton Transit's Route 747 Bus Service and transfer to the LRT (light rapid transit) at the Century Plaza station.  Get off at Central station for access to the Chateau Lacombe.  Cost:  $8.25 one way ($5.00 for the 747 and $3.25 for the LRT).
  • Taxis and Limos are another option for those arriving very late or very early or just prefer this mode of transportation.  Cost:  approx. $55/Taxi and $66/limo.
  • The Edmonton International Airport also has an agreement with private transportation provider, TappCar for airport pick-up and drop-off. Discussions in online forums indicate that the cost of a TappCar ride is similar to that of a regular taxi.
  • For those planning to do some touring in Alberta before or after the conference, car rentals are available at the airport or from outlets within the city.

  • Weather Averages
  • In May, the weather in Edmonton is unpredictable. You probably won't need your parka, but a spring jacket or coat with layers underneath are recommended. If it does snow, it probably won't last, so boots may not be required. But don't expect to be able to wear sandals or flip-flops most of the time. Sunglasses are a good idea. At this time of year, it is often light until sunset which will be around 9:30 pm.
  • A packing list would include: a spring/fall coat, a pair of light gloves, a sweater or fleece to wear by itself or underneath a coat in case the weather is chilly/warm, at least one pair of closed-toe shoes, sunglasses, a cardigan/blazer to wear during the conference, bare legs might be alright during the day but hosiery may be required in the evenings.
