  • The special collections library at University of Alberta is home to important collections that treat a wide range of local and international subjects, from the Aboriginal peoples of North and South America to Historic Entomology and from Book History to the Chinese Experience in Canada. This hands-on tour will give you the opportunity to examine some of the treasures from several different collections, including, of course, some interesting and entertaining examples of historical approaches to health care.Limited to 15 people

  • First time CHLA attendees are invited by the CHLA Board to this opportunity to get together with Board members and exhibitors. Drinks and light snacks will be served.
Opening Reception - Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA)

  • Illuminate yourself at an evening at the Art Gallery of Alberta. Network while enjoying a Prairie inspired cocktail and nibbles.
  • All conference registrants can visit the Art Gallery of Alberta for free. 

    Attendees to the opening reception on Tuesday May 16th can use their ticket to view the gallery during the reception. For those too busy networking or who are unable to attend, you can use your ticket to visit the AGA on Wednesday May 17th or Thursday May 18th from 11:00am - 8:00pm or on Friday the 19th from 11:00am - 5:00pm.
  • Parking Info:
    There is no parking at the Art Gallery of Alberta. The building is easily accessible by the LRT (you don't even need to go outside). For those who choose to drive, there are a number of parking spots nearby.

The AGA maintains a collection of over 6,000 objects and is the oldest cultural institution in Alberta. The AGA recently underwent a major re-building project that was designed by Los Angeles architect Randall Stout.

  • Bus fare to WEM is $3.25 each way. Expect travel to and from the mall to take 30-45 minutes.
  • Meet at the hotel lobby for this self guided tour to Edmonton's number 1 tourist destination. Participants will be taking the bus from Jasper Avenue to the Mall. Once there, you can shop until you drop at a vast selection of shops. There are also many restaurants and food court options at WEM. This is a self guided tour so the amount of time, what you decide to do, and how much money you decide to spend is completely up to you.
