Terms of Reference

The CHLA/ABSC Leadership Interest Group is a forum in which CHLA/ABSC members explore the nature of leadership and ways to develop their own leadership potential. Members at any stage of their career can benefit from a better understanding of leadership and applying this knowledge to their professional growth.

Members of the group will:

Explore the nature of leadership, particularly as it applies in health sciences libraries.
Explore the difference between leadership and management.
Create personal leadership development plans.
Discuss leadership issues and literature.
Develop competencies and skill sets to aid in professional growth.

Members will participate actively through online discussions and in annual meetings at the CHLA/ABSC conference.
A convenor will be elected from among the group’s membership and serve a maximum of two years.
There is no limit on the number of members in the group.
Membership is open to all CHLA/ABSC members.

Discussions of relevant issues, questions, etc., may be held in the Leadership Interest Group Forum.
