Login Canada Student Paper Prize

Rationale and Scope:

The Login Canada Student Paper Prize is awarded annually to the library student who submits the best unpublished paper on health sciences librarianship to the competition. Research papers and review articles are eligible for the prize. Papers will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Contribution to health sciences librarianship
  • Originality and timeliness of the research
  • Clarity and style

Prize:

Awarded at the annual CHLA/ABSC conference, the Login Canada Student Paper Prize includes publication in JCHLA, a certificate and a cheque for $500.00.

Eligibility:

Currently enrolled students in accredited master’s programs in library science or library technician programs are eligible to enter the competition. Personal or Institutional membership in the Canadian Health Libraries Association is required.

Judging:

The panel of judges comprises the Editors of JCHLA, the CHLA-ABSC President and a representative of Login Canada. The judges will read and evaluate all entries against the criteria above. The decision of the judges is final. If, in the opinion of the judges, no submission satisfies the criteria, the judges reserve the right not to award the prize.

Procedures:

Each submission must be accompanied by the author’s full contact information, the name of the school at which the student is currently enrolled in a library program, and the expected date of completion of the program. For information on manuscript formatting, see the JCHLA Instructions to Authors. Papers must be submitted electronically to the JCHLA Editor by February 1st. Questions may be directed to the Editor at editor@chla-absc.ca.
