Mandate

The Canadian Virtual Health Library  (CVHL) Task Force has been set up to build upon the work of the Transition Team which:

  • Validated the draft Phase 1 project plan for a CVHL;
  • Developed and implemented a stakeholder engagement and communications plan; and
  • Secured committed funding from selected stakeholders.

The Task Force, accountable to the Canadian Health Libraries Association (CHLA) will complete the funding application process and Memorandum of Understanding which the Transition Team secured.

With approved funding from major stakeholders, the Task Force will move into implementation as outlined in the June 2009 document Canada Health Infoway for Creation of a Canadian Virtual Health Library (CVHL). Activities will follow three distinct streams:

  • Stream One:  Stakeholder Engagement and Network Formation
  • Stream Two: Technology Strategy: CVHL Portal Design
  • Stream Three: Content (Information Resource) Development Strategy

Without funding, the Task Force will complete its operations and report the outcomes and recommendations to the CHLA Annual General Meeting in 2010.

Term

The Task Force term will be in effect from September 1, 2009 to the CHLA Annual General Meeting of 2010. Teleconference meetings will be held monthly or as needed.

Reporting

The Task Force will report:

  • through the Task Force co-chairs directly to the CHLA Board at the winter and pre-conference CHLA Board meetings;
  • to the CHLA Annual General Meetings, with reports which will be published in the Journal of the Canadian Health Libraries Association (JCHLA) and on the National Network of Libraries for Health and CHLA websites.
  • to the Association members through the Association's website and the listserv CANMEDLIB
