Access member-only content (including the CHLA directory) using the userid and password that were sent to when you joined or renewed your subscription. In the Member Area Features section, you can search for names in the directory using the query box, or select 'Quick Reports' to see the complete member roster. Privacy Policy

Membership year runs from January 1 to December 31. All fees are expressed and payable in Canadian Dollars.

CHLA/ABSC members* benefit from:

Discounted rates for CHLA/ABSC hosted continuing education activities, including our annual conference.
MLA member rates for MLA sponsored continuing education activities.
Eligibility for professional development and research grant funding.
Connecting with the Canadian health library community by joining CHLA/ABSC committees and interest groups.
Development of leadership skills and shaping the future of the association by joining the board or a chapter executive.
The latest with our member newsletter, the eNews.
Celebrating colleagues with the CHLA/ABSC awards.
Access to the exclusive members only section of the CHLA/ABSC website, including access to the CHLA/ABSC members directory

*some membership plans have exemptions or additions to the items listed above, see

CHLA/ABSC membership plans:

Regular Member ($125)

In addition to the benefits listed above, in the year of membership a regular member shall receive:

One call for nominations/nominations form.
One ballot for the election of Board members.
One vote at the Annual General Meeting.

Student Member ($50)

A student member is defined as an individual enrolled in a full-time course of study.

In addition to the benefits listed above, in the year of membership a student member shall receive:

One call for nominations/nominations form.
One ballot for the election of Board members.
One vote at the Annual General Meeting.

Sustaining Member ($3125)

In addition to the benefits listed above, during each year of the lifetime of the membership, a sustaining member shall receive:

One annual call for nominations/nominations form.
One annual ballot for the election of Board members.
One vote at each Annual General Meeting.

Institutional Member ($250)

In addition to the benefits listed above*, in the year of membership, an institutional member shall receive:

One call for nominations/nominations form (only if a personal name is attached).
One ballot for the election of Board members (only if a personal name is attached).
One vote at the Annual General Meeting.
the right to send up to two individuals to CHLA/ABSC and MLA activities both at the member rate;

*At the time of registration/renewal, the Institution must name two individuals who will receive the CHLA/ABSC and MLA continuing education activities membership rate privileges listed above.

*The institution must provide names and emails of staff to info@chla-absc.ca for eNews distribution and member access to the CHLA/ABSC website.

*This membership category is insufficient for serving on a Chapter Executive or the CHLA/ABSC Board.

Retired Member ($50)

In addition to the benefits listed above*, in the year of membership a retired member shall receive:

One call for nominations/nominations form.
One ballot for the election of Board members.
One vote at the Annual General Meeting.

*CHLA/ABSC and MLA sponsored continuing education activities can be attended at the retired member rate.

A Retired Member must no longer be earning a salary from employment. The initial membership application for Retired status must include the name of a current CHLA/ABSC member who can verify that the applicant has retired.

Unemployed Member ($50)

In addition to the benefits listed above, in the year of membership an unemployed member shall receive:

One call for nominations/nominations form.
One ballot for the election of Board members.
One vote at the Annual General Meeting.

Honourary Member

In addition to the benefits listed above, during each year of the lifetime of the membership, an honourary member shall receive:

One annual call for nominations/nominations form;
One annual ballot for the election of Board members;
One vote at each Annual General Meeting;
