Awards and Funding

The members of CHLA/ABSC can apply for different funding opportunities or be nominated to receive an award.  CHLA/ABSC also supports students enrolled in accredited masters programs in library and information science or library technician programs through the JCHLA/JABSC Student Paper Prize. 

Application Deadlines: 

  • Application deadline for all awards except the JCHLA/JABSC Student Paper Prize is February 1; the Student Paper Prize deadline is April 30.

The total budget available for all three grants for each fiscal year shall be set by the Board of Directors at its annual Fall Meeting. All funding needs to be claimed within the same fiscal year.

CHLA/ABSC Professional Development Grant : The purpose of the Professional Development Grant is to enhance access to professional development opportunities for individual CHLA/ABSC members.

CHLA/ABSC Research Grant :The purpose of this grant is to foster and support research in the field of health sciences librarianship by providing funds to CHLA/ABSC members who are conducting research in this field.

CHLA/ABSC Annual Conference Grants :  The purpose of the CHLA/ABSC Annual Conference Registration Grant is to enhance access to professional development opportunities for individual CHLA/ABSC members by offering conference registration.
