Continuing Education Courses

This Roster lists CHLA/ABSC accredited courses that chapter and conference organizers can draw from during Continuing Education Workshop planning. The roster will be updated as new courses are developed and accredited. If you have attended or have given a workshop, course or information session that you think your colleagues would benefit from, please let us know by sending an e-mail to the CE Coordinator and put CE Roster in the subject field.

Conference CE Workshops (Accredited for 3 years)

• Critically apply their understanding of copyright principles to address common scenarios encountered by health librarians and information professionals
• Understand how to share content without infringing copyright
• Identify copyright friendly material that is openly licensed for sharing and how to find it
• Refer to additional resources to deal with more complex cases

• Understand the principles behind a systematic review.
• Determine a feasible and appropriate research question.
• Know how to apply a framework for doing a literature search, such as PICO.
• Conduct advanced searches in PubMed to locate relevant results.
• Determine the value of using supplemental searching as it relates to the research question.
• Understand where critical appraisal tools, citation managers, and systematic review software can be applied.

• identify and distinguish predatory journals/publishers from legitimate ones
• discuss and contribute to community strategies to educate others about predatory publishers and their consequences

• Appreciate the range of free to access text mining tools, and the various options they offer in terms of helping with literature scoping, strategy development, record selection and record prioritisation
